About Cerebral Vortex Games

Established in October 2006, the St. Catharines, Ontario-based Cerebral Vortex Games is a developer of games for casual audiences. Previous titles developed by CVG include Word Burst and the click management game Ice Cream Dee-Lites, which are available at the company's website.

Cerebral Vortex Games' premier title, Ambush Trivia, was a finalist in Telefilm's Great Canadian Video Game Competition.

The Management

Keith Makse, President

Keith has been an active member of the video game industry for over 10 years, serving as a Designer and Producer. Keith has also taught at the Video Game Design and Development program at the International Academy of Design & Technology.

With hit titles such as Ice Cream Dee-Lites and Word Burst, Cerebral Vortex Games aims to make great games for the casual audience that engage and entertain players while expanding their minds. In 2006, Cerebral Vortex Games won acclaim by placing as a finalist in Telefilm Canada's Great Canadian Video Game Competition with their premiere title, Ambush! Trivia.

Michael Sauro, Art Director

Michael Sauro has spent the majority of his career as an artist in the video game industry. He graduated from the Algonquin Television Animation program in 1995 and worked in various animation studios as a clean-up Artist, Animator, Posing Artist, Character and Prop Designer, and Storyboard Artist. In 1997 he joined Artech Digital Entertainments to contribute to their video game department. Michael worked primarily as Concept Designer and Animator on several children’s titles, and then moved on Level Design, Game Design and Sound Design.

In 2001, Artech began production on its first full console title, “Raze’s Hell” for Xbox. Michael helped with initial Game Design and Story Design, as well as Concept Art, Sound Design, and Animation and Level Design. The game was released in April 2005 and was a critical success (72% average on Gamerankings.com). Michael went on to work on some DVD titles before taking a teaching position at the IADT. At the Academy he teaches Concept Art, Animation, Level Design, as well as Media Arts History and Video Game Production. He has also contributed to the re-writing of some of the courses’ curriculum.
